Strong-hearted stories, dark & funny

55. WRITING THE CHILD CEPHALINA

April 8th 2017:- On thinking about the novel last night, it suddenly occurred to me that in order to be able to use the new idea I had yesterday I was going to have to go back and change certain things to make it fit. It wasn’t a huge amount of work, but did wonder how I was ever going to write today’s thousand words. But I did manage it, and now the novel is 66 thousand words in, leaving just 14 thousand to bring this story to an end. When I have finished this first draft, I’m going to not look at it for a week at least, if not more. Over that time, I’ll be reading relevant stuff and collecting more info. But reading is relaxing compared to doing the morning writing. Marvellous picture, not sure what that stuff on her face is, but look at the bell hanging by string above these lunatics. This looks as if it happening in the 1930’s or even 40’s.
